BMW Leipzig Plant

The BMW Leipzig Plant is one of the most modern and sustainable car production sites in the world. And where more than 960 cars roll off the production line every day.

The new BMW production site in Leipzig is built on a plot of 200 hectares. The first phase started on May 7, 2002 and the project took more than three years to complete.

The first BMW to roll off the line in March 2005 was the BMW 320i and six years later in December 2011, the 1,000,000th BMW rolled off the line in Leipzig.

More than 3,000,000 cars have already been produced at the BMW Leipzig Plant.

An impressive number, especially considering that all these cars would form a row of 13,000 km. Which is roughly comparable in distance from Leipzig to the most northerly city in Australia in Darwin.

Future...

BMW continues to invest in making this location more sustainable and in the production of new models.

The total investment has already amounted to more than EUR 3 billion and more than 8,000 employees work at this unique production location.

In 2023, this location will once again show its flexibility when the MINI is also produced in addition to the BMW production.

In addition, efforts are being made to make production more sustainable, with the aim of reducing CO2 by 80% by 2030.
